California Wine Club Review

Posted by Paul | Uncategorized | Posted on February 25th, 2010

The California Wine Club offers many different wine club options, but are they the best? Let’s try to answer that question in this review.

Besides the variety of wine clubs, the California Wine Club offers a valuable monthly publication called “Uncorked.” This publication will help educate you on the origins and flavors of the wine. This can be one of the most fun parts of a wine club.

Although California Wine Club has a wide variety of clubs and a monthly publication, they do not have the most competitive pricing or any introductory offer specials so we give them a 4 out of 5 stars.

Here is a comparison of the different wine clubs they have to offer:

Gold Medal Wine Club

The Gold Medal Wine Club offers award winning wines from many small wineries around the world. These high quality wines make for one tasty wine club.

We gave the Gold Medal Wine Club a 4 out of 5 because they have many options for customers. Gold Medal offers 5 different wine clubs to choose from! The only reason they didn’t get a 5 out of 5 is because they are a bit pricier than other wine clubs. Also, the least expensive wine club only offers wine from California.

Although prices are not the cheapest, you can definitely expect some very high quality wine. For the quality of wine you get, the wine club is probably priced about right.

Let’s break down the 5 different options you have:

1. Gold Series Monthly Wine Club

  • 2 Bottles of wine every month
  • All award winning wines from California
  • Wine from small wineries
  • Starts at $34/month

Best White Wine Clubs

Posted by Paul | White Wine, Wine, Wine Clubs | Posted on February 19th, 2010

White WineWhen looking for a white wine club, you want high quality wine at affordable prices. These two clubs are the best white wine clubs on the market.

Let’s start with my favorite wine club, the Zagat White Wine Club. This white wine club offers the best wine and highest value for the price. Along with great tasting wine, the Zagat White Wine Club offers a FREE cheese board and knife set.

Click Here to Get The Zagat Wine Club

The Zagat White Wine Club also offers tasting notes with a handy binder to store them in. With every wine club shipment that Zagat sends you, they provide more notes to add to your binder. Many people don’t care so much for the notes but I think they can be the best part of a wine club.

zagat wine clubTasting notes help you learn about the aromas, flavors, and origins of the wine. After some practice with my tasting notes, I started getting the hand of tasting and smelling flavors without needing the tasting notes. Of course, I would double check the notes after I wrote down what I thought was in the wine.

Although it was rough at first, I slowly started to train my nose and mouth to taste and smell the variety of aromas. Since wine not only get flavors from the grapes but also from the aging process, there can be a large variety of flavors.

Click Here to Get The Zagat Wine Club

White Wine Introductory OfferAside from the tasting notes and a cheese board and knife set, you’ll get 12 bottles of wine which are hand selected from smaller wineries who don’t mass produce the wine. These wines are difficult to find in stores and are quite rare.

To recap, you’ll get the following with your white wine club:

  • The cheese board and knife set
  • The Tasting Notes
  • 12 Bottles of White Wine
  • 100% Satisfaction Guarantee

So you must be wondering, how much does all of this cost? Well the great news is…all of this can be yours for only $69.99!

*Make sure to select “All Whites” on the check out page because they do offer an all red wine package too.

Now, for my second favorite white wine club; Cellars White Wine Club.

Cellars is a very high quality wine club which lets people choose between red or white wine. Make sure to select white wine on the check out page.

With Cellars you will get the following:

  • 2 White Wines (2 Bottles a Month)
  • Monthly Newsletter discussing Wines Featured and Wineries
  • Discount on Wine Reorders

Best Red Wine Clubs

Red Wine Introductory Offer When looking for a red wine club, you have to consider many things. Is the wine good? Is the price fair? Do I get anything else with my red wine club?

If you are looking for the best red wine clubs, you’ve come to the right place. There are two red wine clubs which are the best around. The first one we’re going to talk about is my favorite:

The Zagat Wine Club. This wine club not only brings consumers the most value but also can help new wine drinkers get a wine education.

Zagat | best red wine clubs

Zagat offers 12 tasty bottles of red wine, tasting notes about the wines (more about that below), and cheese board/knife set (which is valued at $49.99!).

Red Wine Introductory Offer The Zagat Wine Club let’s you choose all reds on the checkout page. Just make sure you select it when checking out.

Here are the tasting notes I mentioned earlier. These notes are where you are going to get your wine education. I first learned about wine because I combined drinking the wine with reading through the tasting notes. I started smelling for flavors and trying to taste flavors that my guide said would be in there and at first it didn’t go so well.

Initially, I couldn’t find hardly any of the aromas and flavors but I quickly started to get better and now I can write down almost all the flavors and aromas in any wine without even looking at any tasting notes!

Click Here to Get The Zagat Wine Club

Also, for first time buyers, Zagat throws in a FREE cheese board/knife set which are great. They are better than anything you could buy at a grocery store.

The great news is…the Zagat Wine Club only costs $69.99 for first time buyers! Get everything mentioned above and discover the world of wine with Zagat:

Another wine club which offers all red wines is Cellars Wine Club. They have very good wine but don’t offer nearly as much as Zagat.

Now, moving on to the best wine club on the market…the Zagat Wine Club. In my opinion, Zagat has some of the best wine and offers far more value for first time buyers looking for a wine club introductory pack.

With Zagat, you’ll get 6 MORE Bottles than My Wines Direct, bringing that total to 12 bottles of wine. You can pick between all reds, all whites, or 6 of each.

Also, you will receive a FREE cheese board and knife set with your purchase!

Finally, you will receive tasting notes about each wine which can really help you become a wine expert. These tasting notes are the best part of a wine club experience.

You’ll start to learn that wines often have 5 or more flavors and aromas in each bottle. With a little practice, you can even start locating the flavors and aromas without even referring back to your tasting notes.

Visit Zagat Wine Club

Now you may not be too interested in this but let me tell you…this is the best part of the entire wine club. If you put a little effort into reading the tasting notes and trying to find the flavors and aromas in each wine, it’ll be like taking a wine 101 course.

Before you know it, you’ll be naming off flavors and aromas without reading the notes. So for me, the best part of my first wine club was learning so much more about the world of wine.
